The 2008 Arizona JOAD Indoor
Championship took place at Straight N Arrow
Archery, Phoenix, on January 19, 2008.
The tourney was hosted by
tournament director Todd Hulm of
Straight N Arrow JOAD. Archers came from:
-
Tucson,
-
Mesa Targeteers
-
Papago FITA Archers
-
Corner Kidz
-
Straight N Arrow
Thirty-one youths took part.
This was the first JOAD tournament for half of
the participants. This was the largest number
of participants in an Arizona JOAD Indoor
Championship!
An AM and PM shooting time was
offered with the AM group slightly larger than
the PM group. As a JOAD tourney, the rules
were presented in detail. The dress code was
explained including the no blue jeans and not
camo policy so the JOADs can be better
prepared for the next tourney.
The tourney was a USA Archery
JOAD Indoor tournament where the Cub and
Bowman compound archers compete on a 40 cm
target face and score the outer ten ring. The
Cub and Bowman recurve archers compete on a 60
cm target face and score the outer ten ring.
The larger divisions were exciting for the
participants and spectators alike. No state
records were broken except for the record
number of archers. Both groups shot AB/CD
lines.
Coaches, parents and spectators
were allowed into the range on a limited basis
as space was a premium. There were no
equipment failures which indicates that the
kid’s equipment was well prepared. There was
one bounce out that resulted in a short
delay. Straight N Arrow JOAD presented
placement certificates to all present at the
end of the day. 1-2-3rd place
finish award plaques including the JOADs name
to be distributed upon verification of
placement and USA Archery membership payment.
Thanks you Straight N Arrow
JOAD for hosting the largest Arizona JOAD
Indoor Championship ever.
