Shooters JOAD hosted a NAA sanctioned Olympic Qualifier and
Olympic Round.
17 archers
competed on a single shooting line. 4 were Arizona JOADs
preparing for the Junior World Team Trials. Practice began at
9:00 AM
One
noticeable change was the NAA dress code allowance of
Khaki, shorts, skirts and pants. Khaki is
defined as a dull brownish yellow, or drab color similar to olive
drab.
Denim and cut offs continue to be prohibited.
The Khakis were very welcome
as tournament temperatures reached in the upper 90s and there were
only light breezes. Kathy
Greene was the DOS and Alan Huff judged. Each donated their
time.
The 72 arrow,
70 meter Olympic Qualifier went smoothly.
After a lunch
break, everyone was ranked to compete in the Olympic Rounds.
16 stayed to
compete in the Olympic rounds.
One quarter
final match took place then all shot
the semi-finals.
Bob Pian
stepped in to help judge and allowed the Gold and Bronze medal matches
to take place one after the other, side by side. The tournament was
over by 3:00 PM with the weather continuing to
be delightful.
PSJ donated
all of the tournament proceeds after expenses
($15/archer entry fee),
over two hundred dollars, to the Arizona JOADs that win a team spot on
the 2004 US Jr World Team.
AZJOAD now has a total of
over two thousand dollars in the fund!
The 2004 US Jr team will compete in
England in July.
Thanks PJS for
hosting the tournament and supporting the US Jr World Team.
