The inaugural Ben Avery JOAD North Beginner had
a hot start with 9 youth taking part.
-
Parents and family sat in the shade as Level
2 Instructor Heather Collins-Brunelle went through safety,
form, process and shooting on blank bales.
-
The plan is to have the students go thru an 8
week course and finish with solid target archery
proficiency.
-
Frequent water breaks were taken on the more
than warm and sunny day.
-
The day finished with the always fun, balloon
shoot.
-
The program serves the north Phoenix area and
the valley at large.

Volunteers are encouraged to come early to help
set up and put away at the end of class.
Ben Avery staff asked the Arizona JOAD
community to conduct youth archery classes as part of Ben
Avery focus on youth programs.
-
Thank you Straight N Arrow JOAD for stepping
up.
-
The bows, arrows and equipment are being lent
to the program by Arizona Junior and Collegiate Archery,
-
This is the third JOAD club site to be lent
equipment which allow a JOAD club to establish with limited
start up funding.
A youth archery range is in the process of
being built across the street from the FITA Archery Range near
the Broad head and FITA practice range.
Keep an eye on Ben Avery FITA area as the
facility continues to see more and more usage.
