2006 World Field Championship by Harold Rush

Long Version Link

To: Arizona State Archery Community and ASAA.

From:  2006 USA Archery World Field Championship; Barebow Team member, Harold Rush.

I want to thank the ASAA for their financial and moral support for my participation in the FITA World Field Tournament.  It was an honor to represent the state of Arizona and the United States at this event.

The short version is that the tournament was well organized, excellent courses, 3 of them.

The weather was cool to moderate.  Daytime 65 – 72 F.   It did rain on the practice days but the 5 days of competition were rain free during the shooting times.  The courses were boggy or slick but not to the extent of being dangerous.

The courses were not flat but did not involve extreme angles.  Yes, there were up and down shots (mainly down) but none worse than our nationals.

Personally,  I shot average and at that level of competition, it wasn’t good enough to make the cut to the top 16.  Italy was a surprise in placing many medal winners.  The US showed well.  See NAA results for more details:  http://www.usarchery.org/html/06WorldField.html I did injure my right shoulder but I think I have figured out why.  It was not in launching arrows and the doctor said I should be healed in about a month.  Maybe I can get ready for the indoor season.
