The final leg of the 2004 Iron Archer tournament series took place
at Straight N Arrow Archery on Saturday, December 18. A total
of 39 archers took part in at least one event in this tournament
series.
The final portion of the tournament consisted of 12 arrow round
robin matches to replicate the 2005 US Indoor World Team Trials
process..
The day began with the first, second and third place award plaque
presentation for the qualifying round in male recurve, male
compound, female recurve and female compound.
The head to head shooting was exciting for the archers as each tried
to earn the two point match win bonus points.
First timers enjoyed the “mini tournaments” feel of each round robin
match. All seemed to enjoy just shooting something different.
Many remarked that the match play was challenging both mentally and
physically.
Note that there were 84 scoring arrows shot by each archer on round
robin day.
The 2005 Indoor Trials competition is over 120 arrows a day!
A highlight for AZJOAD was the youth compound division Iron Archer
matches.
JOADs from Precision Shooters JOAD, Tucson; Mesa Targeteers,
Chandler; and Straight N Arrow JOAD, Phoenix, took part.
The youth division was also the only division to need to shoot
tie-breakers.
Cassandra Votruba and Tyler Baker shot three-one arrow
shoot offs before the match winner was decided.
Catherine Holcomb also tied with Tyler Baker. They shot two-single
arrow shoot off before their match was determined.
At days end the 2005 Iron Archer championship trophies were awarded
